Film Review: Minority Report

Minority Report, started off with a whole lot of questions left for the audiences. I guess it was actually my brain has not started right away when I started watching it, I figured it out quite late about the pre-crime team was actually being able to look at the future and stop crime with something like the pre-view over the crime that's going that happen instead of going backwards back to the time with the same intention.

This actually gave me some surprises and "woah" when I just being able to get everything back into place, and understand the storyline. When I first started watching this, I thought the movie showed the future in a way it's like Artificial Intelligence with the murder in Fatal Attraction. lol

===================================================================
From showing example as the starting, introducing pre-crime, showing that actually pre-crime is a good way of stopping murders and crimes, with the prophesy of the 3 gifted trio. Then further inside to John, so great in being a cop in stopping murders in action through pre-crime, and his inner side, missing his lost son, the wife who left him.
Then everything started to get suspense when the one of the prophesy showed that John killed someone that he didn't even know and the cops chasing after "thieves" game kicked start. He got no idea what has got into his life and he needs to figure it out why he would want to kill the guy in the prediction while running for his life from being caught and sentenced for life for the intention of murdering,which he had never believe he'll be committing. In the end with the help of Agatha, the maze and the secrets behind all got revealed, just at the very end of the movie, someone who John trusted in the beginning was actually the most cruel man who set everything up, just to cover the murder he did over Agatha's mother, Annie something. @.@

Sci-fic, thrill, with questions and mysteries solved, something like in the Sherlock Holmes. Except that mysteries in SH solved using science while this movie using minds with technologies.

===================================================================
I actually don't understand how come they worked together for a long time in the pre-crime unit, but most of the colleagues doesn't even have trust on John? Or was it me who misunderstood it. hahaha.

===================================================================
The character of Agatha gave me the most surprises. She's pretty impressive for me. HAHAHA. I actually think that she gave life to the whole movie.
In a very first place she grabbed on John with "Can you see it?"
Then where she could pre-see and helped John to get over the cops, from getting the umbrella, to waited for the balloon to cover them up, to giving coins to the beggar. woah.
Next to the place where she tells the future of John's lost murdered son, which has got very sentimental in this piece of movie.
And the master part where she screamed "RUN" which echoed so much, to show the tire, to run away from the future. @.@
Her character developed pretty much. From a such a mysterious person, who can't even walk properly in the beginning, not talking much, to helping John through all the obstacles, to the secret of her mother got murdered, pieces by pieces, showing all the great ability she's having inside her! So strong.

Besides, was the father-ly love of John in the movie. The missing feeling. Even in the hardest time where he changed his eyeballs, he thought of his son. The part where he merely committed the crime was because that he thought that crow guy killed his son. So great the power of love. John had gotten stronger and stronger in the movie as well.

==================================================================
The context did fit well in the plot of the story. The timeline was set about 50 years later from now. The technologies were so highly developed with anti gravity transportation, just on the facade of the building! omg. @.@ That was pretty amusing. Even the video tape got 3D. I guess that's the world 50 or 100 years later from now?

However, some of the technologies seems too over. Like the cereal box having animated cartoons, then Betty who's sitting beside me saying that the cost of the packaging must be high by that time. HAHAHA! Animated pictures in the magazines and newspaper, just like the one in Harry Potter. And the moving plants, really looked alike with those in Harry Potter and LOTR. @.@ Was it the technology that people got new species with the plants or what? @.@

It wasn't really everything in high-tech mode. In John's wife's house which wasn't at the city, is just a normal country house, with normal construction. This shows the other side of the world, which was quite relevant to the real world. Like KL's more developed that the country side of Terengganu? LOLS!

===================================================================
I think the intentions of the movie was telling us knowing the future wasn't really the key point to stop something from happening especially in preventing crime. The scary point was the heart of the people, where even if we know the future, everything still can be set up, to get and win over everything of technology, no matter how high-tech is it. In the end, it's the mind that wins, where we have to see who has the greater power in "solving minds", psychology game. Quite successful, in telling us the message. By the end of the movie, when we talked bout it, we almost got the same answers among us classmates about the message it tried to convey. Love's great too! The fatherly love inside.

===================================================================
Sure movies like these will have an impact of design thinking. Out of the box, different way of conveying the story, suspense, surprises, just like AI. We should think out of the box like this to create new creative design, in giving suspense and surprises in other way, through our buildings, it shows how our mind works and see things in a different way I guess.

Thrilling for people who likes mysteries, secrets, suspense, and in the end, everything was solved and reveal all the truth. Maybe in design we can do the same thing, then we explain it using words and let them feel through the design. LOLS!
